We have approximately 100 Ouachita and 300 Apache thornless blackberry plants. The Ouachita will begin to ripen in early June and the Apache a couple of weeks later.
It is best to pick berries early in the morning when
the fruit is still cool and firm.
We will supply you with one gallon buckets for picking, but be sure to bring something in which to take your berries home. It is a good idea to bring a cooler if you are traveling very far.
We are located just 8 miles south of Paris, 3 miles west of Highway 24 in the small community of Howland, Texas. Our berry patch is on a 38 acre meadow once owned by my great-grandfather. This plot has been in our family for over 70 years, and my two sons will be the 5th generation to farm this land.
Come pick your own blackberries!!! Always call before coming out.
During our first summer of production, Paris Bakery featured our berries in a blackberry tartlet dessert dish drizzled with South Howland Berry Farm honey that was created by chef Kit Lindsey. Looks delicious!
The berries are done for the summer! Hopefully, next year will be a better year for them.
